fulltime report......

every week, without fail(ok ok, unless i am in camp and/or bad weather), i would go down to bishan park to play soccer with my kakis. hv been doing it since the start of the year.

i scored a beautiful goal (imo:P) in today's game. its been a long time i scored a goal. although the game ended with 1 a piece, still it was a good workout for everyone(my sunday soccer kakis).

here is my report on the match:

the late afternoon kickoff(5pm) didn't bother either side as the game started with the shirtless kicking off. not much action in the opening minutes of the half although the shirt team have most of the possesion.

1st shot of the game came frm shaun, whose nifty footwork took the ball past 2 defenders. but his finishing was disappointing. he blast the ball skyhigh with acres of space to spare.

on the other end of the field, the shirtless team answered back with a great teamwork between brandon and seng. seng took the ball down the center of the park, 1-2 with brandon and took his chance. inches wide there but great effort.

both side had their chances to score but couldn't take it. but that was until the later half of the 1st half.

the breakthrough came at the 32nd min, sunny broke down the left flank, cuts the ball back to the center and wilfred(me!) was there to smash the ball out frm 10m into the back of the net. the ball was going straight at the last man until the last sec when it swerve towards the right. the ball hits the upright and into the net, sending the goal post flying with it.the shirtless team with the lead!!!

shirt team tried to answer back with a few tricks of their own. a quick gallop down the left flank by the leftback kelvin produced an opening in the opposition's backline. his cross reached the striker but was cleared off the line by the last man kieren.

halftime sees the score at 1 - 0 to the shirtless team.

2nd half started the same fashion as the 1st half. seems like the shirtless team couldn't find their feets in the opening exchanges of the second half. figo(some guy wearing a nike tee with figo printed) came agonisingly close with his shot after a superb dummy past a defender.

minutes later, shirt team's equalising goal came courtesy of a lousy back pass by wilfred(me). shaun took his chance with a long shot. his long range effort took a slight deflection and ended in the net. 1-1 to the shirt team. that was the last interesting piece of action as the match drew to a close.

it ended all square. 1 a piece.

note to all: the incidents in this match are mostly made up but the scorelines are real. i was fooling ard only. i did score a goal and so did shaun. but i guess nobody cares rite? had a great time playing and hop nxt week can score another goal.
